Salary: Around £25,500 per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: Full time , half day Saturday , closed on a Sunday
Location: Wigan
We’re working with a lovely, family-run independent opticians in the Wigan area, based in a welcoming village location where personal service, quality eyewear, and building lasting relationships with patients are at the heart of everything they do.
This isn’t your typical high-street optical role. The practice offers a more personalised approach, with a focus on premium lenses, quality products and exceptional patient care.
Important Requirement:
You must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working within optics. Applications without this will not be considered.

The Role
- Confidently dispensing a wide range of frames and lenses, including premium lens options
- Providing expert advice and a personalised experience to every patient
- Building genuine relationships with patients and encouraging repeat visits
- Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the practice
- Helping promote specialist services, including the dry eye clinic
- Contributing towards practice performance and team targets
- Getting involved in different areas of the business and being happy to wear several hats
- Potentially supporting another nearby practice when required
- Assisting with social media and practice promotion if this is something you enjoy
What we are looking for
- At least 5 years’ experience working as an Optical Assistant
- Previous independent practice experience, ideally
- Strong dispensing skills and confidence handling a high volume of dispensing
- A good understanding of premium lenses and quality eyewear
- A warm, friendly personality and a naturally welcoming approach
- A genuine commitment to outstanding patient care
- The ability to multitask, take initiative, and support the wider team
- Previous supervisory or managerial experience would be a real advantage
- An interest in social media would be a bonus
- A driving licence and willingness to occasionally support another practice
