The Association of British Dispensing Opticians (ABDO) has unveiled its annual plan outlining the strategies it intends to implement in 2024 to support its members.
Incorporating its new vision, mission, and values, ABDO aims to bolster its commitment to supporting and representing its members. The plan focuses on raising awareness of the crucial roles played by dispensing opticians, facilitating professional development, and advancing the opticianry profession.
Daryl Newsome, the President of ABDO, emphasised the significance of having a five-year strategic plan and an annual defined plan. He stated, “We are consistently making transparent and measurable progress towards strengthening your association, ensuring it becomes more valuable and influential than ever before.”
ABDO has identified three key priorities for 2024:
- Firstly, the introduction of the FBDO apprenticeship program aims to enhance training opportunities for aspiring dispensing opticians.
- Secondly, the launch of a professional certificate in paediatric eye care underscores ABDO’s commitment to advancing specialized knowledge in the field.
- Lastly, a core focus remains on providing an exceptional service to members both in the present and for the foreseeable future.
ABDO is dedicated to delivering sustained value to its members, positioning itself as a reliable resource for their professional growth and success.
