Central London
Salary: Up to £30,000 DOE
Full Time – 5 Days Per Week

The Opportunity
A very exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Optical Assistant to join a prestigious, luxury independent opticians in Central London.
This is very different from a traditional high-street optical role. The practice has built its reputation around exceptional eyewear, high-quality lenses, individual styling and a genuinely premium level of customer care.
You’ll work across two beautiful Central London practices, joining an experienced team of optical professionals who pride themselves on offering a highly personalised service.
The environment is very much about quality rather than volume. Dispensing values regularly reach several hundred pounds and can comfortably move into four figures, so you’ll be working with customers who expect excellent product knowledge, attention to detail and a first-class experience.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your role will be varied and hands-on, including:
- Providing a highly personalised dispensing and styling experience
- Working with premium, luxury and bespoke eyewear
- Dispensing a wide range of prescriptions and high-quality lenses
- Helping customers choose eyewear based on their prescription, lifestyle and personal style
- Building strong relationships with customers and delivering outstanding service
- Checking completed spectacles and ensuring everything meets the required standard
- Booking appointments and handling telephone enquiries
- Supporting the wider optical and clinical team
- Taking ownership of tasks and using your initiative throughout the day
- Typically completing around 4–5 quality-focused dispenses per day
Who Are They Looking For?
This practice is particular about finding the right person and personality, rather than simply filling the vacancy.
You’ll need to be:
- An experienced Optical Assistant with a strong dispensing background
- Comfortable working with premium/high-value eyewear and lenses
- Professional, polished and well-presented
- Confident communicating with a discerning customer base
- Personable, engaging and naturally customer-focused
- Someone who takes genuine pride in their appearance and the service they provide
- Proactive and comfortable using your own initiative
- Detail-focused, organised and reliable
- Commercially aware without losing sight of the importance of excellent customer care
Experience within a luxury independent, boutique optical practice or premium eyewear environment would be particularly attractive.
The Practice
You’ll be joining a long-established independent with a reputation for combining clinical expertise with luxury eyewear and fashion-led styling.
The practices offer carefully curated collections ranging from contemporary and artistic eyewear through to handcrafted and bespoke pieces. The emphasis is firmly on craftsmanship, individuality and finding something genuinely suited to each customer.
There is also a strong focus on lens quality and precision, with advanced lens technology and an experienced optical team supporting the dispensing process.
This would particularly suit somebody who loves the fashion and styling side of optics, enjoys working with beautiful products and wants to provide a much more personal service than is often possible within a volume-driven environment.
Salary & Working Pattern
- Salary up to £30,000 DOE
- Full-time – 5 days per week
- Working across two Central London practices
- Weekend working required as part of the rota
- High-end, quality-focused working environment

- Central London locations with excellent public transport links
