This can be due to an increase in workload, sickness, a specific project, maternity cover, headcount freeze or cover whilst a permanent position in sourced. The employees’ salary would be paid to you direct and based on an agreed daily rate.
What are the benefits of working as a Locum?
Managed carefully, the benefits of locum can be greater than permanent work:
Financial
Locums often find that because they are in high demand, they can command salaries that are greater than if they were to be doing the same job as a permanent member of staff. Plus because you are paid per day and not a salary you can manage how much you work and consequently get paid.
Experience
Each assignment that you go on will add another string to your bow. In each work place you will be doing something that can only enhance your CV. It also allows you to experience working within different companies. If later you decide to go for a permanent position within a competitive industry, your experience will hold you in good stead.
Some people like to "try before they buy". You can try out different positions without having to make binding commitments. This means that you are more informed and will be in a better position to make career decisions.
