Salary: £60,000–£65,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Optometrist to join a well-established independent optician in Southeast London.
This role is about much more than delivering excellent clinical care. The practice is looking for an Optometrist with genuine personality, warmth and a natural ability to connect with people. Someone who understands that patients remember how they are made to feel just as much as the clinical service they receive.
With a strong emphasis on personal service, the practice offers an environment where building relationships, taking time with patients and delivering a memorable experience are fundamental to its success.
Personality and customer service are absolutely key. The successful candidate will be approachable, engaging and enthusiastic about making every patient feel valued, while bringing the clinical expertise and commercial awareness needed to contribute to the continued growth of the business.
The Role
- Deliver comprehensive eye examinations, with generous testing times that allow for thorough consultations and meaningful patient interaction.
- Create a welcoming, personable experience that makes patients feel comfortable, listened to and genuinely cared for.
- Build lasting relationships through excellent communication, warmth and a natural ability to engage with people.
- Take time to understand individual patient needs, providing tailored clinical advice and appropriate recommendations.
- Combine outstanding patient care with the commercial awareness to support the success of the practice.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, contributing positively to the team atmosphere and overall patient experience.
- Demonstrate initiative, take ownership of your role and play an active part in the ongoing development of the business.
About You
- GOC-registered Optometrist with post-qualification experience.
- A genuine people person who brings personality, warmth and enthusiasm to every patient interaction.
- Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to build rapport naturally and make patients feel at ease.
- A confident communicator who enjoys engaging with people and developing long-term patient relationships.
- A clinician who combines technical expertise with a personable, approachable manner.
- Commercially aware, understanding that excellent service and business performance go hand in hand.
- Someone who appreciates the personal approach of independent opticians and takes pride in delivering a high-quality patient experience.
- Experience or knowledge of Ortho-K would be a real benefit to the practice, although this is not essential.
- A positive team player who is happy to get involved, take responsibility and make a genuine difference.
Salary & Benefits
- £60,000–£65,000 basic salary, depending on experience.
- Performance-related bonus.
- 20 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays.

Working Hours
- Monday to Friday: 9:00am–5:30pm.
- Saturday: 9:00am–2:00pm.
