We’re working with a successful, well-established optical practice looking to welcome an experienced Optical Assistant into its friendly and supportive team.

The Role
As an Optical Assistant, you’ll play an important part in delivering an excellent patient experience from the moment someone enters the practice.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming patients and supporting them throughout their visit.
- Carrying out pre-screening and supporting the clinical team.
- Advising patients on suitable frames, lenses and optical products.
- Dispensing spectacles based on individual prescriptions, lifestyles and budgets.
- Fitting, adjusting and repairing spectacles.
- Supporting collections and providing excellent aftercare.
- Assisting with general practice duties and the smooth running of the store.
- Working closely with Optometrists, Dispensing Opticians and fellow Optical Assistants.
- Contributing to the overall performance of the practice without the pressure of individual sales targets.
The role offers plenty of variety, with Optical Assistants involved in the complete patient journey rather than being restricted to dispensing alone.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with patients, takes pride in their dispensing skills and wants to be part of a genuinely supportive team.
Ideally, you’ll have:
- At least 12 months’ experience working as an Optical Assistant, preferably two years or more.
- Good knowledge of spectacle dispensing, frames and lenses.
- Confidence communicating with patients and recommending suitable optical solutions.
- A friendly, professional and approachable manner.
- A willingness to get involved in all aspects of practice life.
- A positive attitude towards learning and developing new skills.
- Flexibility to work either Saturday or Sunday.
