Salary: up to £30,000 (depending on experience)
Hours: Full time | 37.5 hours per week – No Sundays
Location: Sheffield
We’re working with a respected independent optical business operating across a number of well-established practices in Sheffield. Known for its strong community presence, personal service, and high standards of patient care, this is a great opportunity to be part of a close-knit and supportive team where relationships with patients genuinely matter.
This is a varied, hands-on role where you’ll be involved in all aspects of the patient journey, offering plenty of autonomy, responsibility, and opportunity to make an impact.
Important Requirement:
You must have a minimum of 12 months’ experience working within optics. Applications without this will not be considered.
Responsibilities:
- Dispensing to a wide range of patients
- Carrying out pre-screening tests confidently
- Frame styling, fittings, adjustments, and collections
- Advising on suitable lens and frame options
- Supporting reception and general admin duties
- Maintaining high standards of patient care throughout the journey
- Actively contributing to business growth and customer engagement

What we are looking for:
We’re seeking a confident and experienced Optical Assistant who brings the right mix of clinical knowledge, sales ability, and personality.
- Experience across both independent and multiple optical settings would be highly advantageous
- Strong dispensing and pre-screening knowledge with confidence in delivering excellent patient care
- Naturally charismatic, with the ability to build instant rapport and deliver a first-class customer experience
- Proactive and self-motivated, with the initiative to stay busy and support both patient flow and business growth
- Strong sales ability, with confidence in recommending and upselling lens and frame options
- Positive, energetic, and a genuine team player who contributes to a supportive and upbeat working culture.
