The Opportunity
A very exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Optical Assistant to join a well-established family-run independent practice in Watford.
This is an opportunity to move away from a heavily target-driven environment and join a practice where the emphasis is firmly on quality patient care, good service and doing things properly.
You’ll be joining a friendly, close-knit team where everyone supports each other and gets involved across different areas of the practice. Most importantly, there are no individual sales targets or KPIs – the focus is on looking after patients and maintaining the high level of service the practice is known for.
The Role
This is a varied position that would suit an experienced Optical Assistant who enjoys being involved in more than just one area of the practice.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Dispensing to a wide range of patients
- Providing advice on frames and lenses
- Adjustments and spectacle repairs
- Supporting with glazing and lab work where required
- Working closely with the clinical team
- Helping with the smooth day-to-day running of the practice
- Delivering a consistently high level of customer service
- Taking on additional responsibility as your experience within the practice develops
The practice is looking for somebody who can become a trusted and valued member of the team, rather than simply filling another position.
What Are They Looking For?
Previous optical experience is essential, but they’re equally interested in finding somebody with the right personality, attitude and work ethic.
You’ll ideally be:
- An experienced Optical Assistant
- Confident dispensing to different prescription levels
- Comfortable working independently when required
- Mature, reliable and able to use your own initiative
- Patient-focused rather than heavily sales-driven
- A genuine team player
- Looking for a position where you can settle and develop long term
This could particularly suit somebody currently working for a larger optical business who would like to experience a more personal, independent way of working.
Salary & Benefits
- £28,000 – £30,000 DOE
- 20 days holiday + Bank Holidays
- 1 Saturday off per month
