Cataract surgery could be performed by a robotic surgical platform and potentially increase access to ophthalmic surgery worldwide. This comes after $55m was raised to develop ForSight Robotic’s Oryom device.
CEO and co-founder of ForSight, Dr Daniel Glozman, said: ‘Our goal is to democratise this highly sophisticated procedure, enabling patients around the world to easily access the treatment that can restore their vision.’
Funding will also be used to explore ways of using robotics for retinal diseases and glaucoma.
