A very exciting opportunity has become available for an Optometrist on a full or part-time (3-days minimum), permanent basis with a well-established high-end independent based in the South of England. They are looking to recruit within one of their beautiful practices, north of Southampton, set in a stunning location in the heart of this vibrant market town!
This independent high street opticians, who have built a fantastic reputation for their clinical excellence and personalised care, are looking to add to their team by recruiting an Optometrist to work a minimum of 3 days per week, including one Saturdays off per month. NO SUNDAYS OR BANK HOLIDAYS.

An enthusiastic and committed individual is required to join and work in this practice, where you’ll benefit from a single clinic room setup, supported by a knowledgeable and experienced DO Manager and a highly capable support team. This practice is all about team spirit, and you’ll also have access to a very active Optometrist WhatsApp group for instant support and clinical discussion with your peers.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and contact lens appointments
- Offer specialist services such as dry eye clinics where required
- Provide clear, patient-focused recommendations based on clinical findings
- Ensure full compliance with General Optical Council (GOC) regulations
- Maintain accurate, detailed patient records in line with legal standards
- Work closely with Dispensing Opticians and support staff to deliver a seamless patient journey
- Utilise advanced diagnostic equipment such as OCT, fundus cameras, tonometry, and visual fields
- Promote eye health awareness and preventative care advice
- Participate in clinical governance and quality assurance processes
- Contribute to practice growth through excellent patient care and communication
Requirements
- BSc (Hons) Optometry or equivalent
- Fully qualified and GOC registered Optometrist
- Previous experience within a community practice setting
- Additional accreditations such as GRR or Post Cataract (advantageous)

Compensation for the Optometrist
- In return for your expertise and commitment, a highly competitive package is on offer:
- Up to 70,000 basic salary (based on 40 hours FTE)
- Ideally 3-5 days per week, with 1 Saturday off per month
- Professional fees covered
- 33 days holiday including Bank Holidays (pro rata)
- Sociable hours – no Sundays, Bank Holidays, or late nights
