The Opportunity
A very exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Optical Assistant to join a well-established independent practice in South West London.
The practice has been established for over 20 years and has built an excellent reputation for providing a much more personal approach to optics.
This isn’t a high-volume, conveyor-belt environment. The emphasis is firmly on quality patient care, attention to detail and giving people the time they need.
If you enjoy proper dispensing, premium eyewear and being part of a smaller team where your contribution is noticed, this could be well worth a conversation.
The Role
As an Optical Assistant, you’ll be involved throughout the patient journey, including:
- Dispensing spectacles and advising on appropriate frames and lenses
- Helping patients choose eyewear to suit their individual needs and style
- Providing a friendly, professional and personalised patient experience
- Supporting the day-to-day running of the practice
- Working with a varied and loyal patient base
- Getting involved with social media and local marketing
- Contributing ideas to help the practice continue to develop
This is a practice where you’ll be encouraged to use your initiative and have an input, rather than simply following a corporate process.
The Practice
You’ll be joining a modern independent with a strong focus on both clinical care and quality dispensing.
The practice benefits from advanced technology including:
- OCT and retinal imaging
- Corneal topography
- Myopia management
- A carefully selected range of premium and luxury eyewear
- Experienced and supportive colleagues
The focus is very much on doing things properly rather than rushing patients through the door.
Salary & Benefits
- Up to £28,000 DOE
- 28 days’ holiday including Bank Holidays
- Full-time, permanent position

Weekend availability will be required as part of the role.

- Experienced within an optical practice
- Confident dispensing and advising patients
- Friendly, professional and patient-focused
- Reliable and organised
- Comfortable using your own initiative
- Happy to get involved in different areas of the practice
- Someone who takes pride in their work and wants to continue developing
