A South Korea study investigated the association between symptoms of dry eye disease and factors relating to mental health.
Researchers found that patients with dry eye symptoms were more likely to experience short sleep, psychological stress perception and have a history of depressive moods.
Researchers concluded that practitioners could experience patients reporting mental health issues when treating patients with dry eye disease.
The study was published in Scientific Reports, sourced its data of Korean adults aged 20 or over from the 2010-2012 Korea National health and Nutrition Examination Survey.
