Dispensing Optician – Premium Independent Practice
South Reading | 35,000- 40,000 DOE | Full or Part-Time | No Sundays
Are you a qualified Dispensing Optician who enjoys taking the time to really get to know your patients?
Perhaps you’re working in a busy multiple and would love to move into an independent environment where quality, service and clinical care come before volume. Or maybe you’re already within an independent but looking for a practice offering premium products, modern technology and a genuinely close-knit team.
We’re working with an established independent practice in South Reading that has been part of the local community for around 13 years. They have built a fantastic, loyal patient base and are now looking for a Dispensing Optician to become a long-term part of their team.
This isn’t a practice focused on quick transactions or hard selling. Their patients expect a high level of service, expert advice and a personal experience, with average dispensing values sitting around 500- 600.
The Practice
You’ll be joining a small, experienced team where everyone works closely together and patient care is very much at the heart of the business.
The practice offers a premium range of eyewear including Lindberg, Prada, Gucci, Tom Ford, Ray-Ban, Oakley and Wolf, giving you plenty of opportunity to use your dispensing and frame styling knowledge.
Clinically, the practice is equally well invested. There is a modern test room with new equipment, alongside OCT and Optomap technology. Currently only one test room is being utilised, with plans to make greater use of the second room as the practice continues to develop.
What Will You Be Doing?
As the Dispensing Optician, you’ll play an important role within the practice and have the freedom to deliver a genuinely personalised service.
Your role will include:
” Dispensing across a wide range of prescriptions
” Providing expert advice on frames, lenses and lifestyle requirements
” Working confidently with premium and designer eyewear
” Taking accurate measurements and ensuring excellent fitting and aftercare
” Building long-term relationships with an established patient base
” Supporting the wider team and day-to-day running of the practice
” Helping maintain the high standards of service the practice is known for
” Contributing ideas and becoming a valued part of the future development of the business
They aren’t looking for someone who simply wants to come in, dispense and go home. They’d love someone who takes ownership, enjoys being part of a smaller team and genuinely cares about the patient experience.
What Are We Looking For?
You’ll need to be a qualified Dispensing Optician, ideally with some solid experience behind you.
You should be:
” Confident dispensing to all levels
” Passionate about delivering excellent patient care
” Comfortable working with premium products
” Friendly, personable and able to build strong patient relationships
” Happy working as part of a small, close-knit team
” Professional, reliable and self-motivated
” Someone looking for stability and a practice they can become a genuine part of
Experience within an independent or premium optical environment would be beneficial, but personality, patient care and the right attitude are equally important.
What’s on Offer?
” 35,000- 40,000 DOE
” Salary can be negotiated for the right candidate
” Full-time or part-time considered
” Open to 3 or 4 days per week
” One Saturday off per month
” No Sundays
” No Bank Holiday working
” 28 days holiday including Bank Holidays
” Typical opening hours of 9:00am-5:30pm
