We are currently recruiting for a qualified Dispensing Optician to join a busy practice with 5 testing rooms and a team of around 27 staff.
The practice has a strong local patient base and operates at a high volume, so they are looking for someone who enjoys being busy, is confident on the shop floor and can bring strong dispensing knowledge to the wider team.
Both full-time and part-time applications will be considered, making this a good option for an experienced DO looking for either their next permanent full-time position or a better work-life balance.
Responsibilities of the Dispensing Optician
As part of the wider optical team, you will be responsible for:
” Providing high-quality dispensing advice across a broad range of prescriptions
” Supporting patients with frame and lens choices
” Carrying out accurate measurements, fittings and adjustments
” Managing more complex dispensing requirements
” Delivering excellent patient care throughout the customer journey
” Supporting and sharing knowledge with less experienced members of the team
” Helping maintain high standards across a busy shop floor
” Contributing towards the continued commercial success of the practice
Requirements of the Dispensing Optician
You will need to be a qualified and GOC-registered Dispensing Optician with strong dispensing knowledge and a patient-focused approach.
The practice would particularly suit somebody who is:
” Confident and knowledgeable across all areas of dispensing
” Comfortable working within a busy, high-volume environment
” Friendly and approachable with excellent communication skills
” Commercially aware without losing sight of patient care
” Team-focused and happy to support colleagues when needed
” Reliable, proactive and able to manage their own workload

The practice trades Monday-Saturday 9am-5pm and Sunday 9am-4pm, with flexibility around weekend working required.
A busy practice with plenty of variety
This isn’t a quiet practice where you’ll be waiting around for patients. It is a busy and commercially successful store, so there is plenty happening throughout the day and a real opportunity for an experienced DO to come in and add value.
You’ll be joining an established team rather than being expected to do everything yourself, while still having the opportunity to bring your own experience and knowledge to the practice.
