Are you an experienced Optical Assistant who enjoys the dispensing and customer side of optics and wants to work somewhere a little different from the traditional high-street practice?
Inspired Recruitment is working with a well-established independent opticians in Southampton, looking for a confident Optical Assistant / Senior Dispenser to join their team.
This is a non-testing practice, so there are no clinics or pre-screening. Instead, the focus is entirely on providing a brilliant customer experience, offering knowledgeable dispensing advice and building relationships with an established patient base who return time and time again.
The Role
This would suit someone who really knows their way around frames, lenses and dispensing and enjoys taking the time to find the right solution for each customer.
You’ll be joining a practice where people genuinely care about what they do. They’re looking for someone who can become a trusted member of the team, work independently and eventually take on more responsibility as the role develops.
You’ll be involved in:
” Dispensing and advising across a wide range of prescriptions
” Providing knowledgeable advice on lenses, coatings and frame choices
” Delivering a personal, unrushed customer experience
” Building relationships with new and long-standing customers
” Working alongside the practice’s on-site glazing lab
” Taking ownership of your workload and supporting the wider team
What We’re Looking For
Ideally, you’ll already have good experience working as an Optical Assistant / Dispenser and have strong knowledge of spectacle lenses.
More importantly, you’ll be confident, self-sufficient and genuinely enjoy looking after customers. Someone who can eventually take the lead, manage themselves and potentially support others would fit particularly well.
Salary & Hours
Salary: From 25,000, with a higher salary available depending on experience.
This is a full-time, five-day position with a particularly attractive working pattern:
” Only 2 Saturdays per month
” No Sundays
” No Bank Holidays
” Early finishes at 4pm on Monday, Tuesday and Friday
” Saturday hours only 8:30am-2:30pm
” Free parking available nearby and accessible by public transport
