I’m working with a busy, established high-street practice in Bournemouth who are looking for a confident Optometrist to join their team. With 30-minute testing, strong clinical opportunities and an upcoming practice expansion, this could be a great move for an experienced Optometrist wanting a role with variety and future progression.
The Opportunity
This is a busy practice within an affluent area with a large and loyal patient base, including a significant number of elderly patients.
They’re ideally looking for an experienced, confident clinician who is comfortable managing a varied clinic and enjoys combining excellent patient care with the commercial side of optics.
There is also potential to become involved with supervision and further progression for the right person.
The Practice
The practice currently has 2 modern testing rooms alongside hearing care, with exciting plans for a substantial refurbishment and expansion which could increase this to around 4 consulting rooms.
Clinical facilities include:
” 30-minute test times
” OCT
” Electronic patient records
” Optomap being introduced as part of the refurbishment
” Dry eye treatments
” Contact lens services
” Modern testing rooms
The Role
You’ll have the opportunity to work across a varied patient demographic, although confidence working with elderly patients will be particularly important.
Alongside routine eye examinations, you’ll be involved with contact lenses, dispensing and wider clinical services, making this a varied role for someone who enjoys being involved in the complete patient journey.
Contact lens experience and confidence are important for this position.
Hours & Flexibility
Both full-time and part-time applications will be considered.
You’ll be required to work at least one weekend day, with approximately 1 weekend in 4 off.
Practice opening hours are:
Monday-Saturday: 9:00am-5:30pm
Sunday: 10:00am-4:00pm

Location
The train station is approximately a 2-minute walk away, with nearby public car parks, some free on-road parking and limited parking available behind the practice.
About You
They’re ideally looking for an experienced Optometrist who is:
” Confident and clinically capable
” Comfortable with contact lenses
” Patient-focused and personable
” Confident working with an elderly patient demographic
” Happy to dispense when required
” Comfortable within a busy practice
” Interested in developing clinically and potentially progressing further
A newly qualified Optometrist may still be considered, but experience would be preferred.
