An exciting opportunity has become available for an Optical Assistant to join a well-established independent opticians based in the Chelmsford area. This independent practice is known for delivering a high level of personalised patient care, offering a relaxed and professional environment where both staff and patients are genuinely valued.
This role would suit an experienced Optical Assistant who enjoys building strong relationships with patients and takes pride in providing an exceptional customer experience from start to finish.
The Role
As an Optical Assistant, you will play a key part in the day-to-day running of the practice. You’ll be supporting patients throughout their journey, from welcoming them into the practice through to dispensing frames and lenses, making adjustments, and assisting with collections and aftercare.
The successful candidate will be confident working in a busy practice environment and comfortable delivering high standards of customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcoming patients into the practice and providing excellent customer service
- Helping patients choose suitable frames and lenses based on their needs and lifestyle
- Carrying out frame styling and dispensing
- Adjusting and fitting spectacles
- Booking appointments and managing diaries
- Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the practice
- Handling collections, repairs, and aftercare queries
- Working closely with the Optometrist and wider team to ensure a positive patient experience
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience working as an Optical Assistant is essential
- The ability to dispense glasses to all levels is also essential
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A friendly, professional, and approachable manner
- Passionate about delivering excellent customer care
- Well-presented and organised
- Able to work effectively as part of a team
Salary & Benefits
- Competitive salary, up to £29,000, depending on experience
