The Role Overview
We’re working with a well-established, independent optical practice in the Hampshire area that is looking to welcome a dedicated Optometrist to their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a patient-focused environment where clinical excellence and personalised care are at the heart of everything they do.
You’ll play a key role in delivering outstanding eye care services, ensuring patients receive the highest standard of clinical attention and advice to support their long-term eye health.
The Practice
This independent practice has built a strong reputation within the local community for its high standards of care and investment in modern optical technology. With a collaborative and supportive team in place, you’ll be joining a business that truly values both its patients and its people.
Key Responsibilities
” Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and contact lens appointments
” Offer specialist services such as dry eye clinics where required
” Provide clear, patient-focused recommendations based on clinical findings
” Ensure full compliance with General Optical Council (GOC) regulations
” Maintain accurate, detailed patient records in line with legal standards
” Work closely with Dispensing Opticians and support staff to deliver a seamless patient journey
” Utilise advanced diagnostic equipment such as OCT, fundus cameras, tonometry, and visual fields
” Promote eye health awareness and preventative care advice
” Participate in clinical governance and quality assurance processes
” Contribute to practice growth through excellent patient care and communication
Requirements
” BSc (Hons) Optometry or equivalent
” Fully qualified and GOC registered Optometrist
” Previous experience within a community practice setting
” Additional accreditations such as GRR or Post Cataract (advantageous)

” Strong clinical and diagnostic skills
” Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
” A patient-centred approach with empathy and professionalism
” High attention to detail, particularly in record-keeping
” A team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively
” Good time management and ability to work in a busy practice environment
” Commitment to continuous professional development
Salary & Benefits
” Competitive salary of up to 70,000 (depending on experience)
” Professional fees paid (GOC & AOP)
” Generous holiday allowance (33 days including bank holidays, pro-rata)
” No Sunday or Bank Holiday working
