About the Practice
We are a well-established independent optical practice seeking a confident and experienced Optical Assistant to join our team. The practice offers a professional, patient-focused environment with an emphasis on high-quality eyecare and personalised service.
Role Overview
As a Full-Time Optical Assistant, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the practice, providing excellent customer service, supporting clinical work, and dispensing confidently at all levels. This role is suited to an experienced individual who can work independently and build strong patient relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcoming patients and delivering outstanding customer service
- Pre-screening patients and supporting clinical workflow
- Dispensing spectacles confidently at all levels, including single vision, bifocal, varifocal, and more complex prescriptions
- Frame styling and professional lens recommendations based on patient needs and lifestyle
- Explaining lens options, coatings, and pricing clearly and accurately
- Handling sales, payments, and general retail duties
- Managing appointments, recalls, and patient records
- Supporting revenue targets and promotional sale periods
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and professional practice environment
Working Hours
You will work 5 days per week on the following schedule:
- Monday – Thursday: 9:30am – 6:00pm (1-hour lunch break)
- Sunday: 10:00am – 4:00pm (40-minute lunch break)

Ideal Candidate
- Previous optical assistant experience essential
- Confident dispensing experience across all prescription types
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Sales-focused and comfortable working to targets
- Reliable, organised, and professional
- Comfortable working in an independent practice environment
