Regardless if your surroundings, an interview should always be treated as a formal occasion, bear this in mind.
Sometimes a little bit of laziness or lack of care in how we present ourselves can be the difference in a job interview, as crazy as it sounds. So to steer clear of this, there are some things we can do without fail.
Plan ahead
to avoid any wardrobe malfunctions on the day of your interview, decide what you want to wear the night before and don’t change your mind, this will be one less thing to worry about when the time comes around.
Wash your clothes
It doesn’t matter if it’s your favourite shirt, if it has a stain, rip or a missing button just put it to one side and go for a more professional look, after all you don’t want something so silly to ruin your chances.
Feel at home in your clothes
If a suit isn’t something that you have to wear on a daily basis, then try to ignore this when you are heading to an interview. Instead, just own it, it’s only happening for a day and will just distract you the more you think about it.
Don’t forget the hair
Unfortunately all interviews want your hair to look a certain way with not much leeway. if you have long hair, just cut it and make sure your hairstyle isn’t too garish because this can also put off older interviewers.
Suit / Dress
Girls will know better than anyone the more suitable dresses to wear for an interview, so if you do have an interview coming up then make sure that you are appropriately dressed and go for the simple option i.e. a tight skirt. For men it’s much more straight forward and trousers and tie are always recommended.
Jewellery
Rings, bracelets and necklaces are deemed ‘acceptable’ for an interview, however this power should not be abused because it can look tacky, be distracting and also won’t last very long in a workplace environment.
Footwear
Men should be ideally look at having black or brown shoes, and certainly not trainers or shoes with a white sole. Similarly, women should wear flats and avoid high heels as they can look informal and technically are classed as evening wear.
How to look good
Maybe if you are going for a modelling job, then the most up to date brands still apply, but for any jobs in the healthcare / pharmaceutical industry less is often more, so wearing smart clothes in a sensible manner will give you top marks when you meet your interviewer.
