A progressive opportunity has just become available for a quality driven experienced Optical Assistant for a full time, permanent role in the Derby area.
I am recruiting currently for a franchisee of one of the UK’s most trusted optical brands who have an opening due to them strengthening their dispensing team and falling in line with continued growth.
– Must have at a minimum experience of 1-year working in an opticians
– Must be able to dispense to all levels
– You will be able to work 4 or 5-days per week including a weekend day

This practice has been through a recent facelift and is situated in a busy shopping area and has strong footfall with a loyal customer base made up of a good mix of private and NHS patients. They have a team of 45-50 which includes a patient focused support team and an organised management structure, who all work for each other to deliver the highest levels of care possible and they have a very good local reputation for excellence in customer care.
Responsibilities of the Optical Assistant
The role will entail dispensing spectacles to all levels, conducting pre-screen tests and contact lens teaches. You will also be required to carry out frame styling and give patients advice on options. Reception duties and general admin will also be a part of the role and helping with the smooth running of the practice.
Requirements of the Optical Assistant
The client is open to anyone with at least one years’ experience in an opticians and ideally working in a busy practice. The most important requisites are a friendly and personable demeanour and strong personal work ethic. A customer focused approach to your work and the ability to build a strong rapport with customers and colleagues alike.
You will be outgoing and approachable with strong communication skills and a willingness to grow and progress.
Compensation for the Optical Assistant
For your skills and input my client is offering a competitive salary of up to £26,000 basic with 30 days’ holidays inclusive of Bank Holidays and a number of additional benefits including some flexibility in weekend working. You will also have the opportunity to receive some further training and the potential for the dispensing course in the future for the right person.
